What we liked
- + The listing describes caramelization and dark fruit sweetness, a classic flavor for Belgian ales, dubbels and barleywines.
- + It is said to add body and a deep mahogany color to darker beer styles.
- + The 1 lb size is enough for a single specialty grain addition in a typical recipe.
Trade-offs
- - It is a specialty grain, not a base malt, so it adds flavor only alongside other fermentables.
- - The listing does not state the Lovibond or the maltster, which matters for matching a recipe.
