What we liked
- + Hefeweizen ferments fast and is ready to drink young
- + Extract recipe is simple enough for a first or second brew
- + Northern Brewer kit includes clear instructions and matched yeast
Trade-offs
- - Wheat beer character will not suit hop-focused drinkers
- - Traditional Bavarian yeast can produce strong banana notes if too warm
